Language as Theurgic Hybridization: The Question of the Bāb’s Grammar

Hybridization in linguistics is the process of one variety blending with another variety. In sociolinguistics a variety, also called a lect, is a specific form of a language or language cluster. This may include languages, dialects, registers, styles, or other forms of language, as well as a standard variety. In this podcast I will show how in His writings the Bāb was actively employing a system of theurgic hybridization between Arabic and Persian; and as a function of Hermetic harmonia using the Islamic hieratic science of lettrism and the contemplation of the divine Names and Attributes; rather than specifically lapsing into incorrect grammar eo ipse.

This underscores that the Bāb’s allegedly bad Arabic grammar and syntax was actually in many instances quite deliberate, attempting thereby to code esoteric truths and correspondences between numbers, words and especially the divine Names and Attributes, seamlessly connecting them all to the ordinances and truths behind the religion of the Bayān itself as Revealed by Him. This in itself would therefore demonstrate that the accusations regarding the Bāb’s allegedly faulty Arabic grammar have always been completely beside the point and thoroughly misrepresentative of the real animating impulses behind such occurrences, as it were, with the accusers themselves having thoroughly misunderstood what is going on within the dense, multilayered and ideationally multi-textured interior architecture of the Bābī sacred texts.

Haykal-i-Dīn/Talisman of the Religion, 6:7 (p.23) - Persian word mohr (seal/stamp) conjugated according to rules of Arabic grammar yamhurrana يمهرن is 305 which is the numerical value of the Name قادر (the capably powerful).
