Reference: Queensland Death Certificate No. 2012/51665

Subject: Rapid decline of Soheil Hazini (b. 1949 – d. 4 February 2012, Townsville Hospital)

1. Death Certificate Details

    • (b) Small bowel obstruction
    • (c) Metastatic sigmoid adenocarcinoma
    •

2. Photographic Record

  • Exhibit A – November 2011: Soheil Hazini with daughter (Nika) appears relatively healthy. Facial features are full, complexion stable, posture upright, no visible wasting.
  • Exhibit B – January 2012: Taken six weeks later (with Mitra), he appears markedly deteriorated — face gaunt, posture weakened, frailty pronounced.

 Exhibit B

The visual difference over such a short time span indicates an unusually rapid decline.

3. Medical Considerations

  • Stage IV metastatic adenocarcinoma is terminal but generally progresses over several months. Even with late diagnosis, the official “6-day” duration of last illness is inconsistent with the photographic evidence of a steep decline over 6 weeks.
  • Possible explanations:
  •
    • Diagnostic or recording discrepancy: progression longer than recorded.
    • Iatrogenic acceleration: treatment or medication error hastening decline.
    • External intervention: deliberate action (e.g. poisoning, exposure to toxins) accelerating symptoms and mortality.

Conclusion

The inconsistency between the medical record (“6 days”) and the photographic/observational record (~6 weeks of visible decline) warrants scrutiny. This case should be assessed in context with other suspicious family deaths (e.g., that of Kirsten Roya Azal in Berlin, 2019) and possible external influence on health outcomes.
