He who digs a pit for others falls into it himself

Wer anderen eine Grube gräbt, fällt selbst hinein!

Trans: He who digs a pit for others falls into it himself ~ German proverb

(See also Proverbs 26:27)

For years they dug a hole for me—a hole of isolation, of coercion, of whispered narratives meant to bury me in silence just as Israel did the same to the Palestinians since the NAKBA in 1948. They thought that by cutting me off from family and friends, by gatekeeping access and controlling appearances, they could lower me into that pit and cover me with the soil of their lies just as Israel wrongfully thought they could liquidate the Palestinian nation by doing the same on a mass scale.

But the ground has shifted—archetypally as well as literally, vibrationally, never mind geopolitically. Look around. Look at the world. Look at this country’s almost radical shift on Israel, Netanyahu, and the livestreamed genocide in Gaza. It is now the supporters of this mind-boggling human catastrophe of our times who are everywhere (other than between the borders of that militarist colonial settler Ziofascist entity) who are on the backfoot. It is the enablers of this 21st century Holocaust that are rightfully being disparaged and disenfranchised by all people of conscience everywhere.

But that aside, the hole these family enemies and supporters of Palestinian genocide dug for me no longer stands as my grave; it has become their trap just as Gaza itself has become a trap for the IDF. With every blog, every blog entry, every submission to authority, I have redirected the dirt back into their hands. And now, under the weight of evidence and exposure, it is they who are sliding into the very pit they prepared for me just as Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza is functioning in the same manner for that entity.

This is the irony of coercion: it always builds its own undoing. By trying to erase my voice, they created the conditions for that voice to be amplified. By isolating me, they drew the attention of institutions and oversight. By tightening their grip, they revealed the contours of abuse. Israel committed the same mistake. With every Palestinian family it genocided and erased from existence, thousands of voices arose throughout the world for each family lost decrying that genocidal colonial settler Reich.  The hole they dug for me has now become their own just as the hole Israel dug for Palestine has become its own. But this time, it is not darkness that fills the hole, but light pouring in from all directions, whether it be with my personal situation or with Palestine.
