Spookery in Australia and expelling Iranian diplomats by Albo
For decades, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s intelligence arm and undercover paramilitaries have targeted or illegally surveilled Iranian dissidents and their families on Australian soil—while successive governments did little to nothing. Two recent incidents involving Jewish synagogues hinted at possible IRI involvement, prompting Albanese to expel the Iranian ambassador and recall Australia’s diplomats from Tehran.
I understand that after Satanyahoo’s malicious attacks, Albo is walking a political tightrope. But if Canberra and its intelligence community want to wax indignant, they must also reckon with the long record of Iranian-Australians being harassed or surveilled here by the mullahs’ agents. I can name individuals on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane almost certainly working for Tehran, yet they remain untouched.
Today’s actions, then, look more about optics than substance, never mind the fact that there are sayanim (Mossad-adjacent) individuals and groups harassing all and sundry operating unimpeded here in SE Queensland as well as elsewhere in Australia that the Australian government does nothing about. If foreign interference is an issue, then the Australian Commonwealth government MUST equally reckon with agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as those of Israel that are already here destabilizing the private lives of Australians.
